Hailing from Kashmir, the cause of human rights has been Sameer’s strongest force of motivation since childhood. At GNLU, Sameer was instrumental in founding the Centre for Law and Society, a community legal aid clinic and focal point for socio-legal research. He has served as its Student Convener for 3 years, while also serving on the Moot Court Committee and taking on the role of the Managing Editor of IJCAL. Sameer has a penchant for Urdu poetry and sees it as a means of social reform. At Oxford, Sameer plans to study law with a special focus on human rights law, constitutional theory and the law of armed conflicts. In the long term, Sameer aspires to engage in advocacy, policy making and academics in human rights and constitutional law.
