Biography

Nicholas completes his BSc this November, having spent his second year at UCT at Boston College on a Heritage Exchange Scholarship. Prior to UCT, Nicholas won a bursary to study Spanish at the University of Buenos Aires. Over the last two years Nicholas has attended two major summits in the role of project leader and delegate - the Desmond Tutu Youth Peace Summit and the Brightest Young Minds Summit. He served as Orientation Leader for Foreign Exchange Students and as Vice-Chair for the UCT Habitat for Humanity Committee. Nicholas is a Black Belt in Kyokushin Karate, won both the Western Province and South African National Junior titles and represented South Africa twice in the World Championships. For recreation, Nicholas plays tennis and golf, and sings with a capella groups. Longer-term, Nicholas hopes to contribute to solving the social problems in South Africa, working in the interface between academia and NGOs.
