Lewis Fry

Biography

Lewis grew up in New Zealand, before accepting a scholarship to study medicine at Monash University. He is particularly interested in sight and helping patients with blinding diseases. His work with the Centre for Eye Research Australia investigated the role of recovery of retinal ganglion cells in glaucoma and he has presented this widely. An enthusiastic teacher, he teaches many medical students, co-founded a teaching program and is particularly interested in promoting student wellbeing. He fosters research as the Editor-in-Chief of the Australian Medical Student Journal. A keen cricketer and lover of the outdoors, he is happiest with a pack on his back and camera in his hand. At Oxford, he plans to do a DPhil in Clinical Neuroscience leading to a career as a clinician-scientist.
