Create the connections that change the world

Creating New Opportunities Around the World

While talent is distributed evenly, opportunity is currently not. With your leadership we will amplify the reach of the Rhodes Scholarship and make it truly global and inclusive.

Only the Rhodes Trust has local selection committees which assess applicants within their regions, choosing individuals who demonstrate academic excellence, empathy, kindness, and leadership. We are the only global scholarship to have endowed geographic constituencies.

By supporting the growth of the Rhodes Scholarships, you add your potential energy, and unlock the exponential potential of others.

The world requires brave, bold leaders who represent the range of human potential today more than ever. We're supporting the Rhodes Scholarship for this generation and the ones to follow because the Trust's investment in rising leaders fills an evergreen need, and because our engagement as alumni ensures the program, like our Scholars, can grow ever-better, and more impactful.

Our Strategic Plan for Exponential Potential

We believe that there is no longer such a thing as a regional problem, and no better way to identify and connect the talent and passion we need to fight the world's fight than increasing educational opportunities for talented young people in every corner of the globe.

Our key priority is to raise funds to support a phased expansion that focuses on deepening in key existing geographies and then adding new jurisdictional Scholarships as well as more Global Scholarships. By 2028, we aim to endow 10 more Scholarships for Africa, with other priority regions being India, China, and the Middle East.

£120m of our £200m Exponential Potential Campaign goal will go towards geographic expansion.

Together, we unite to share our diverse perspectives, draw new connections, and give rise to the novel solutions that change the world.

Legacy, Equity and Inclusion

As the Rhodes Trust, we acknowledge that our foundation was built on colonial wealth and that varied forms of discrimination played a significant role in our history. We learn from the past, look to the future and envision all we can achieve together.

Since the Rhodes Trust was established in 1902, those of us who carry on this legacy have worked to amplify the best of it.

We cannot sweep aside our history. We cannot reconcile and heal if we do not acknowledge and see that our foundation was built on colonial wealth. We can and will, however, use what we learn from it as a lever to power our continued positive change. Through the Exponential Potential Campaign, we hope to support Scholars working to make positive change.

Geographic Expansion is essential to our Exponential Strength.

In my learning pod during the CSLP Retreat, we were invited to pause and imagine the future of the Rhodes Scholarship. The thought of having scholars from war-torn countries like the Democratic Republic of the Congo and South Sudan, filled me with joy as their presence in the room would be a powerful reminder that the world's fight does not stop in select hemispheres. Thus, equipping undeserved communities with resources so that they too have a chance to fight the world's fight is, to me, decolonization in its highest form. At the very least, I am grateful someone made it possible to have two scholars selected from the East African constituency in 2023. Sometimes, it dawns on me that had there been resources for only one scholar, as it is now, there is a chance I would not be here in Oxford today.
