Biography

Sarah graduated with highest distinction from UNC as a Morehead-Cain Scholar, studying Public Policy, Global Studies, and Arabic. A Phi Beta Kappa inductee, Sarah wrote her senior thesis on bail in Alberta, for which she received highest honours. At UNC, Sarah worked with the Community Empowerment Fund, advocating for racial and financial justice, and UNC's criminal justice advocacy group. Sarah developed a passion for poverty alleviation and criminal justice as a student at UWC Adriatic, and has since worked in South Africa, Jordan, and Washington, D.C. She now works for the Center for Appellate Litigation, a public defender's office in New York City which represents low-income defendants in their criminal appeals. Sarah hopes to pursue an MPhil in Evidence-Based Social Policy and Intervention at Oxford.
