Maitha AlSuwaidi

Biography

Maitha studies Political Science with concentrations in Creative Writing and Social Research and Public Policy at NYUAD. She is interested in political sociology and political psychology, and her senior thesis focuses on public opinion and social media news in the UAE. Maitha is passionate about mental health, finding an interest in Indigenous psychology and Culture-Bound Syndromes, and has organized events for youth in the UAE on mental health awareness. Maitha is also a writer and performer and has acted in Al Raheel | Departure, an all-female poetic production. She is a professional archer and an archery coach and has represented the UAE nationally and internationally. At Oxford, she hopes to investigate the influence of political institutions on mental health perceptions in the UAE.
