Freya Willis

Biography

Freya graduated from the Australian National University with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in History. She is passionate about education, social justice, and women's empowerment. At university, she worked with women's organisations across Australia to lead a national response to sexual assault on university campuses. She attained First Class Honours for her Honours thesis in History, examining female trade unionists' campaigns for equal pay, social welfare, and equal opportunity in 1970s Australia. At Oxford, Freya plans to investigate the growth of low-paid, feminized, and racialized caring work in the 20th century world. Freya hopes to use the study of history to inform and critically engage with the present and improve public policy-making to create a more just and equitable future.
