Biography
Serena Alagappan is currently a senior at Princeton majoring in Comparative Literature with certificates in European Cultural Studies and Creative Writing. She studies French, Latin, and American Sign Language, and is interested in how identity and expression shape artistic practice. A published author of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, she is the president of the Princeton University American Sign Language Club, and the Editor-in-Chief of The Nassau Weekly. Previously, she interned at O, The Oprah Magazine and the Religion and Resettlement Project, where she interviewed and preserved stories of Holocaust survivors and Syrian refugees. At Oxford, Serena hopes to continue finding literary and personal connections where one might expect to find differences through continuing her studies in literature and social anthropology.
