Biography
Muhammed is currently reading for a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering at the University of Cape Town, concurrently working at the Montréal Institute for Learning Algorithms in Prof. Yoshua Bengio’s group on Humanitarian AI. He graduated from UCT with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Mechatronics, with first class honours. Deeply passionate about using engineering to find solutions to challenges faced by communities on the African continent, Muhammed has served as the National Student Chairperson of Engineers without Borders South Africa and on the local UCT chapter committee. He has also done stints at a top-tier management consultancy and in the engineering industry. Muhammed is hoping to further his studies in engineering at Oxford.
