Emily Boucher

Biography

Emily Boucher is a DPhil student in the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences. She studies the epidemiology of cognitive and physical frailty in hospitals using large sets of routine data. Most emergency hospital admissions are for older people, so data on the prevalence and impacts of these conditions are important for informing policy, health services and guidelines.

Emily is also a medical student at the University of Calgary (on leave to complete her DPhil), where she previously earned a Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHSc) degree. During her BHSc, she did an Honours project on the host immune response to infection and studied technologies to support ageing in Hong Kong. She has also done policy research on vaccines for the National Institute on Ageing in Canada.

In her free time, Emily enjoys running, cross-country skiing and spending time with family and friends. She also volunteers with the Calgary Senior's Resource Society and founded the Campus Community Closet program at the University of Calgary during her undergraduate studies, which allows students to obtain clothing, school supplies and hygiene products at no cost.
