Biography
Ibrahim Alkaseer is completing a BA in Political Science and Economics, with a minor in Latin American Studies, at the University of Richmond. Before moving to the United States, he represented Syria in its first appearances at the World Schools Debating Championships and graduated from Mahindra United World College in India. Born in Al-Tadamon, Damascus, and originally from Salamiyah, he is a former internally displaced person. His research focuses on forced migration, post-conflict return, and diaspora politics, and he has led campus initiatives that connect global struggles for justice and belonging.
Ibrahim tutors Spanish, English, and Arabic for students and migrants in Richmond. Beyond academic and civic work, he is passionate about languages, cycling, and music, particularly Bossa Nova and Fairuz. At Oxford, he plans to pursue an MSc in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies, deepening his commitment to freedom of movement and to a world where refugees can rebuild their lives with dignity.
