Biography

Emma (she/her) is a queer settler and feminist, born and raised on Treaty 6 Territory in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Her work engages deeply with gender, sexualities, social justice, and social histories, grounded in frameworks of human rights and social mobilization. Throughout her academic journey, she has focused on amplifying the power of community and countering the effects of polarization. Passionate about making leadership accessible, Emma advocates for inclusive decision-making practices, and the importance of building spaces for courageous conversations. She hopes to continue exploring the intersections of social movements and human rights discourse applying these insights to strengthen spaces of advocacy and social change. Situating the personal as deeply political, Emma fundamentally believes in collaboration as a necessary tool for imagining futures for social justice. Having the opportunity to get to know a diverse community of scholars, Emma is grateful to be a part of a unique community of change makers.
