Biography

August A. Rios, Bluffton, is a senior at Yale University majoring in Urban Sociology. His research focuses on housing policy and structural poverty. August serves as a Commissioner on the New Haven Affordable Housing Commission and co-founded an organization that provides free legal information to Connecticut residents in small claims court. His professional experiences include positions at the Connecticut Fair Housing Center, Legal Services NYC’s Eviction Unit, Y-Säätiö, the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, and the U.S. Congressional Joint Economic Committee. August also holds a real-estate license and advises first-time homebuyers. He is a Truman Scholar and Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholar. At Oxford, he intends to pursue a M.Sc. in Comparative Social Policy followed by a M.Sc. in Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation.
