Michael Gentle

Biography

Michael graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Arts (Art History and English & Theatre Studies) in 2024. He has Minang Nyoongar, Irish and English heritage, positionalities that inform his art historical and curatorial practice. He has held curatorial positions at MPavilion, State Library of Victoria and most recently at the National Gallery of Victoria as Curator, Australian and First Nations Art. His research and curation explores national identities, constructions of the environment and the 'Indigenization' of the nation state. At Oxford, Michael plans to undertake the MSt in History of Art and Visual Culture.
