Madeline Dierauf

Biography

Madeline C. Dierauf, Pisgah Forest, is a senior at Davidson College where she majors in English and is writing an honors thesis examining the intersections of affect and ethics in the novels of J.G. Ballard and Muriel Spark. Madeline is a professional fiddler and bluegrass musician, touring nationally with a variety of projects, and managing and composing for her Appalachia-based band The Wilder Flower. As the student performers chair for Davidson’s Union Board, Madeline hosted weekly events to foster a vibrant arts culture on campus. She has also conducted research on broadside ballads, inter-religious dialogue and community building, and folk traditions, including independent research with musicians across Ireland and Northern Ireland. At Oxford, she intends to pursue the MSt in English and American Studies and the MSt in Musicology.
