Johanna Gring (she/her) is in her final year of a joint degree in Mathematics and Physics at École Polytechnique in Paris. She is passionate about using computational methods to understand the climate crisis and its management. During her time at Oxford, Johanna plans to build her mathematical modelling skills further. She is particularly interested in applications in physical oceanography, which she explores on exchange at McGill University, and in her thesis on boundary layer turbulence beneath ice shelves in Antarctica at the University of Cambridge. Johanna has previously received an excellence scholarship from the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes and the Fondation Mathématique Jacques Hadamard, which support her studies and research. As a former competitive debater and member of the be.boosted association, Johanna is passionate about inclusive leadership and empowering others to express their voices. In her free time, she enjoys swimming, hiking, and travelling.
