Firas Darwish

Biography

Firas Darwish is a senior at NYU Abu Dhabi (BSc Computer Engineering). With his interest in AI safety, bias, and governance, he foresees his career resembling a toxic marriage with ChatGPT (but with more algorithms and fewer hugs). Firas has worked as a Research Assistant at the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics where he designed machine learning systems for diagnosis and prognosis to solve real-world clinical challenges. He has worked in e&’s AI and Data department where he focused on instituting AI governance and developing methodologies to monitor AI’s impact. Outside his studies, he served on NYUAD’s AI Advisory Committee, worked as a residential college assistant, vice-captained the soccer team, and was elected to Student Government.
