Brittany Dick

Biography

Born Māori to Kāi Tahu in Aotearoa New Zealand, Brittany's passion for storytelling in the indigenous world has taken her across the ocean, studying in seven different countries during her undergraduate degree to seek out indigenous voices and tales. She recently graduated from Minerva University in San Francisco, USA, with a Bachelor of Arts in Historical Forces and Arts & Literature. Alongside her studies, Brittany spent her free time dedicated to a Kaupapa Māori Health organisation in her home of Te Tau Ihu, applying insights from her research into indigenous health worldwide. She currently draws on her undergraduate dissertation work on Māori pregnancy and childbirth traditions to work in antenatal education and Well Child Tamariki Ora services, where she sees the positive impact that knowing our histories and stories can have on marginalised communities. At Oxford, Brittany intends to continue uplifting indigenous voices in the past by studying history from a Māori perspective.
