Bincheng Mao is a deferred J.D. candidate at Harvard Law School and a Schwarzman Scholar and Bloomberg Fellow at Tsinghua University. His academic interests lie in the intellectual history of equality and civil rights, ethics in law-making, and the legal frameworks that underpin anti-discrimination law. During the 76th United Nations General Assembly, he assisted former Slovenian President Danilo Türk’s meetings at the UN and helped drafted policy documents on curbing illicit arms trafficking and protecting children in conflict zones. He also interned at the Gates Foundation, where he analyzed nonprofit initiatives aimed at protecting the lives of women and newborns in remote regions. At Oxford, Bincheng hopes to read for a degree in jurisprudence, aiming to bridge the gap between the law and its implementation on the ground to improve access to justice for all.
