Samu/elle Striewski studied mathematics, philosophy and comparative literature in Berlin, Paris and New York City. After an exchange at Columbia University, they returned to the Freie Universität Berlin to complete their master in philosophy with a thesis on the socio-economic, political and normative grounds for queer recognition (supervised by Axel Honneth and Robin Celikates). Simultaneously, they are pursuing a second MA in Études de genre at the Université Paris VIII. At the University of Oxford, Samu/elle aims to deepen their knowledge of political theory and intellectual history before embarking on a PhD programme. Outside of academia, they are active in several LGBTQIA+ associations as board member, event organiser or political advocate, particularly for bi+ and trans* rights. They also perform regularly in drag under the name ‘La Prince*ss’, an experience that continues to inform their personal and academic development.
