Luke McCarvill

Biography

Luke has completed a BSc in Sustainable Design Engineering from the University of Prince Edward Island. In his capstone project, he created a smart waste bin which uses machine vision to inform users of their domestic waste and inspire them to change their purchasing and disposal habits. Luke has worked as a researcher for several R&D projects including designing heat pumps for EV’s, testing pouch-cell lithium-ion batteries, and designing all-weather lithium-ion battery packs for off-grid applications. He hopes to learn more about practical solutions for the wicked environmental challenges we are facing globally, particularly in the energy sector. Luke serves as a Reservist in the Royal Canadian Navy and plays competitive Ultimate (Frisbee).
