Biography
Luke is a Canadian Engineer-in-Training with a BSc in Sustainable Design Engineering from the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), with interests spanning energy systems and environmental policy. For his capstone project, his team developed a smart waste bin that uses machine vision to help users understand their household waste and encourage more sustainable consumption habits. He has also worked on R&D projects ranging from designing heat pumps for electric vehicles to testing pouch-cell lithium-ion batteries.
Luke previously trained as a Marine Technician in the Royal Canadian Navy (Reserves) and aspires to work in energy and environmental policy. He completed an MSc in Environmental Change and Management (2024–2025), where his dissertation focused on modelling climate change-induced increases in electricity demand in India. In autumn 2025, he will begin a DPhil in Interdisciplinary Life and Environmental Science.
Outside of his studies, Luke is an avid Ultimate ('Frisbee') player, having competed for Arizona State University, UPEI, and Oxford University, as well as club teams in Canada and the UK.
