Linet Ng'ang'a

Biography

Linet graduated with honours from Kenyatta University, where she studied BSc (Analytical Chemistry with Management). Her final-year dissertation used molecular dynamics simulations to explore the adsorption of Ibuprofen on graphene and graphene oxide for aquatic ecosystem conservation. Subsequently, she conducts research on DAC materials and designs tests to evaluate material properties, performance, and suitability for DAC at Octavia Carbon, the first firm in the global south to build and deploy Direct Air Capture (DAC) machines to mitigate climate change. She intends to employ computational chemistry and experimental research at Oxford to identify and develop innovative DAC materials, catalytic Carbon (IV) Oxide to methanol conversion for circular DAC processes, and heterogeneous metal-oxide catalysis for polymerization. Besides academics, Linet is an enthusiastic basketball player and student mentor.
