Jackie Testamark

Biography

Jacqueline Testamark graduated from Yale University in May 2024 with a double major in History and Classical Civilizations, receiving distinctions in both majors and Latin honors. Her senior thesis on women’s health in classical Athens was nominated for the Andrew D. White Essay Prize, and she earned several awards and recognitions for her art historical work and outreach. In addition to academic pursuits at Yale, she performed regularly with the a cappella group Out of the Blue and led the globally-ranked Model UN Team at Yale. From 2022, she worked as a field archaeologist in Rome with the Gabii Project, assisted in researching and curating a recent art gallery exhibition and associated catalogue in New York, and was a provenance researcher for the Yale University Art Gallery. Jackie is now a DPhil student in the History of Art and Visual Culture and a member of Christ Church College. Her research explores questions of art and empire, with a focus on Britain and Italy from 1700 to 1850 and the Grand Tour. She is particularly interested in themes of orientalism, belatedness, hybridity, and the use of art in early ethnography.
