Biography

Isaac Heron recently completed a Bachelor of Law (Honours) and a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Economics and Genetics, at the University of Otago. He intends to use his mixture of skills to progress important public policy goals, especially in science and technology policy, such as avoiding existential risk from synthetic biology. Isaac therefore plans to study a Master of Philosophy in Economics or a Master of Public Policy at Oxford. Having been through New Zealand’s foster care system, Isaac has also carried out a variety of advocacy work for VOYCE Whakarongo Mai, an independent advocacy service for people in foster care. During his time as an undergraduate he has also been actively involved in debating and co-founded the student club Effective Altruism Dunedin.
