Emmanuel Orozco Castellanos

Biography

Emmanuel Orozco Castellanos, Jalisco, Mexico and Ecorse, Michigan, graduated from the University of Michigan in 2022 with a major in International Studies. He was the recipient of the 2023 University of Michigan MLK Spirit award, and was selected for the 2021-2022 Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship. During his time at the University of Michigan, he served as President of the Global Scholars program. He was a delegate to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women and the Youth Forum. His publications include an article on the U.N. Convention against Torture and contributions to the Organization of American States’ first-ever report on the Responsibility to Protect. More recently, he worked as a paralegal for unaccompanied refugee children at the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center. At Oxford, Emmanuel will continue his studies in international studies, with a focus on refugee and Latin American studies.
