Duanran is an MPhil student in intellectual history at St Antony’s College, Oxford, where he is a Swire Scholar. Previously, he read history and politics at the University of Hong Kong on a Foundation Scholarship, obtaining a BSocSc with first-class honours. In 2020-21, he was a visiting student at Pembroke College, Oxford. Duanran’s research interests lie at the intersection of theology and social-political thought in the twentieth century, and the transmission of religious ideas between East and West. He has presented at several conferences and edited a 1912 book for re-publication. With the support of the Rhodes Scholarship, Duanran intends to write a DPhil thesis on Christian left-wing political thought in Republican China.
