Annalise Awkar

Biography

Annalise Awkar (she/her) graduated with High Distinction from Macquarie University with a Bachelor of Security Studies and a Bachelor of Media and Communications (major in Journalism and Non-fiction Writing). She currently works at Multicultural NSW, where she delivers a range of state and national countering-violent extremism (CVE) initiatives that aim to counter hate and polarisation through strengthening community resilience. Annalise has held various media-journalism roles and studied at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, as a New Colombo Plan scholar. Her interests include democracy in the digital age, AI and coded bias, news media, mis/disinformation, online hate, violent extremism online, mainstreaming extremism, multiculturalism, nationalism, and racism.
