Biography

Sara Fekri is a final year undergraduate student in Physics with Astrophysics and Cosmology at King’s College London (KCL). Sara’s passion for Physics sparked during her involvement in national and international science fairs where she developed her own scientific projects. She was awarded the 1st place two years consecutively in a national science competition in the UAE. She was also selected as a finalist in Intel ISEF 2019 in Arizona, USA, the world’s largest science and engineering fair, to showcase her research project which revolves around the early detection of Osteoarthritis disease, treatment of its symptoms, as well as a self-built exosuit to aid in motion. Subsequently, Sara was chosen by the UAE Space Agency to take part in the “Mission to Mars” program by Hamilton Secondary College Space School in Australia where she found her interest in the intersection between Physics and Astronomy. During her undergraduate degree, Sara interned as a research fellow in the Experimental Particle and Astro-particle Physics Group at KCL where she was actively worked on a Quantum Dot Neutrino Detector project. Moreover, she has worked on science governance policy and science communication during her summer internship at the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology. Alongside, Sara is interested in public speaking where she has delivered speeches about quality education, environment, and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. At Oxford, Sara intends to pursue her study in the field of Physics as she hopes to become a researcher and contribute to the science community. During her free time, Sara enjoys reading, cooking, swimming, hiking, and watching movies (big LOTR, Harry Potter, and Star Wars fan!).
