Qi Xuan Khoo

Biography

Khoo is a pursuing a double major in economics and computer science with a minor in mathematics at Duke University on the Karsh International Scholarship. From co-authoring a paper on developing predictive models for COVID-19 infection based on wearables data to building a data pipeline for domestic violence shelters in North Carolina, he has been actively involved in academic research at the nexus between economics and computer science. Outside of academia, he co-founded an initiative that connects tech talents at U.S. colleges with nonprofits and social enterprises across developing countries through pro bono tech projects. Inspired by various experiences working on digital transformation in the frontline, Khoo aspires to explore the opportunities and challenges faced by developing countries at the intersection of technology and economic development.
