Natalie Navarrete

Biography

Natalie Navarrete is a senior at the University of Georgia majoring in International Affairs, Spanish, and Russian. She is currently completing the Capstone year of the Russian Flagship Program at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. While in Kazakhstan, Natalie researched the political influence of 20th century Kazakh literature and now works as a translator for a children’s literature publishing company. Natalie hopes to continue to use her Russian language skills in the field of international security, specifically to counter nuclear smuggling. Her research on the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on smuggling strategies while interning at the Department of Energy continues to inspire Natalie to further explore the connections between the Russian- and Spanish-speaking worlds. She intends to continue her studies in Russian and East European affairs at Oxford.
