Biography
Lauren Kim is a medical student at Stanford University, where she will receive her MD in 2029. She is also a graduate of Harvard College, studying Chemistry and Chemical Biology with minors in Global Health & Health Policy and Spanish. In the science world, Lauren is passionate about chemistry and its applications in pharmacology, anesthesiology, and drug delivery. She has recently worked with Dr. Pardis Sabeti to design and deploy multiplexed STI panels in W. Africa, and with Dr. Thomas Lanyon-Hogg to design a bifunctional drug meant to overcome bacterial resistance.
Outside of the classroom, Lauren is interested in how conversations and trust can fight stigmas, gender inequities, and educational inaccessibility in resource-constrained communities. She is the author of "Let's Talk Periods." and also the co-founder and co-director of Project Cascade, a community healthcare project in rural Uganda. During her Rhodes experience at Oxford, Lauren studied Pharmacology (MSc) and Public Policy (MPP).
