Biography

Isaac James graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2022 with majors in Government and Plan II Honors and a minor in LGBTQ+ Studies. Isaac was an active student leader on campus, leading advocacy for a gender-inclusive housing program and university-wide grading policy reform during the COVID-19 pandemic. His interest in LGBTQIA-inclusive education policy was sparked by his work with UT’s Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Lab and the Texas House LGBTQ Caucus, where he introduced a first-time bill protecting queer and trans students from bullying and harassment. Off campus, Isaac served on the Board of GLSEN Austin and completed internships with Equality Texas, the U.S. House of Representatives, and The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights. Isaac is currently a Coro Fellow in Public Affairs, completing a public sector leadership development program based in New York City. At Oxford, he plans to study at the intersection of education policy and politics.
