Clovis Lachance

Biography

Clovis Lachance was born and raised in Trois-Rivières, Québec’s capital of poetry. He recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in international relations and international law from the Université du Québec à Montréal. Using only one word, Clovis would describe himself as an activist. Striving to bring concrete change to the politics of both Québec and Canada, Clovis has been involving himself with a progressive political party and has led the development of workshops aiming to bring the province’s youth to critically interpret numerous issues of the country’s politics. Apart from the tumultuous world of political activism, Clovis also collaborated with his university’s human rights clinic, through which he had the chance to work on a case aiming to shed light on the deplorable conditions of the Inuit people of Nunavik. His most recent research has been focused on reimagining the university in a context of progress towards degrowth and through the lens of the slow movement. Whilst reading for the MPhil in Development Studies, Clovis hopes to further contribute to the global struggle for social and environmental justice. In his spare time, Clovis enjoys a nice swimming session, playing music, and partaking in improvisational theater.
