Biography

Colin is reading for an MSc in Energy Systems under the Department of Engineering Science. Previously, Colin worked for 18 months as an Analyst and Associate at Boston Consulting Group, focusing on the techno-economic analysis of decarbonisation pathways for South Africa's highest carbon emitting sectors. During this period, Colin was featured in Mining Weekly for his work on mining decarbonisation and was listed as a contributor to the South African Government's "Hydrogen Society Roadmap". Colin received his Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering (cum laude) from the University of the Witwatersrand. During his studies, Colin co-founded an edtech startup that has provided over 150 000 South African grade 12 users with free educational resources and a low-cost online tutoring community. In his final undergraduate year, Colin published a paper studying statistical differences between iOS and Android e-learning userbases in South Africa. Colin aims to develop a strong understanding of the challenges facing the decarbonisation of developing countries and how digital technology can best be applied to develop the skills required to enable such transitions.
