Ben Alsop-ten Hove

Biography

Ben is currently a junior doctor in the winterless north at Whangārei Hospital in New Zealand. He graduated as the most distinguished medical student in 2020 from the University of Auckland. He is deeply passionate about the rural health workforce pipeline. A well-functioning pipeline would ensure adequate staffing for the provision healthcare in rural communities. He is also interested in the role of the health system in influencing health outcomes for indigenous communities, particularly regarding the role of differential clinician behaviour. Ben supported a nationwide rural health careers promotion program and is a staunch advocate of the communities he feels privileged to serve. Outside of work, Ben is a keen social netball and touch rugby player, and enjoys long hikes.
