Biography

From Chula Vista, California, Alexandra Ali Martínez is a Rhodes Scholar and Fulbright Scholar. Alexandra Ali read the MPhil in Social Anthropology at the University of Oxford at St. Antony's College. Alexandra graduated from Brown University as a senior commencement orator with the highest Latin honors and double concentration honors in International & Public Affairs and Latin American & Caribbean Studies. She embarked on two honors theses at Brown: an oral history project focusing on families living at the U.S.-Mexico border, and an ethnography on the impacts of U.S. immigration policies on migrant children. An NCAA Division 1 varsity distance runner, Ali has intentionally cultivated extensive work experience to understand the legal system specific to immigration at multiple levels including alongside international organizations and bi-national public interest legal service organizations. She currently serves as a paralegal and judicial assistant at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
