Biography
Tyrese Bender is a senior at the United States Military Academy where he will graduate with a B.S. in Engineering Management. As the Deputy Brigade Commander, Tyrese is the second-highest ranking cadet in the West Point chain of command. He has been instrumental in drafting the Academy's inaugural USCC Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy. During his time at West Point, Tyrese established a character training protocol for 1,300 students to address issues such as race, sexual harassment and assault, mental health, political activism and COVID-19. Tyrese is also captain of a Division I track and field team and a champion triple jumper. As a Rhodes Scholar Tyrese hopes to pursue an MSc in Sociology and an MSc in Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation at Oxford.
