Biography
Sierra is a medical student at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada. She is a recent graduate of the University of Oxford’s DPhil in Engineering Science program, where she was based at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering. She also completed a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Dalhousie University, and has previously worked in engineering roles spanning ultrasound technological development, software testing, and utilities. Informed by her experiences as a racialised woman in engineering and medicine, Sierra is a passionate advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion – something she believes strengthens any discipline. She hopes to build off of her research and work experiences and work at the intersection of engineering and medicine in the future. Outside of her work and academics, she is a rower and enjoys playing piano.
