Biography
Elijah Christopher "EJayy" DeVaughn, Jr. is a member of the Harvard College Class of 2021, pursuing a concentration in History and Literature with a secondary in African American Studies and a citation in Spanish. For the first thirteen years of his life, Elijah's father was incarcerated. In those years, he was raised by his single mother and grandmother in the city of Compton, California. Having been raised in a historically under-resourced city and having grown up visiting prisons at an early age, Elijah developed a deep commitment to fight for the "least of these" - those disenfranchised, disregarded, and condemned. Elijah is committed to producing scholarship and engaging in political action that imagines his hometown of Compton, the United States, and the world as it ought to be.
