Biography
Sami Alahmadi graduated Summa Cum Laude and with Highest Departmental Distinction from the University of Illinois at Chicago, majoring in Biological Sciences and minoring in Spanish. In navigating his upbringing between Saudi Arabia and America, his love of language helped him find unity and connection among seemingly distinct cultures. Likewise, he spent several years working with Chicago's diverse, vulnerable communities, including volunteering at a hospice unit, immigration centres, and mentoring at-risk youth. He has campaigned for and assisted in passing legislation to bridge social and health disparities for marginalized populations. Having seen the delicate interplay between often uncontrollable social factors and health outcomes, Sami hopes to study global health and public policy to tackle health inequities and social injustice at a systemic level.
