Matt Sims-Goh

Biography

Matt Sims-Goh is a quantum physicist, specialising in theory of quantum algorithms, quantum control and quantum sensing. At Oxford, he completed a DPhil in the Quantum Technology Theory Group, researching topics in near-term quantum computation. During his DPhil, he was engaged as a visiting scientist in the Theoretical Division of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, taught quantum physics as a Lecturer at Merton College, and was named a Graduate Prize Scholar at Merton. Since finishing his studies at Oxford, he has worked as an Applications Scientist at Quantum Motion, a London-headquartered start-up building highly scalable silicon-based quantum computers. His current research focuses on applications of quantum computing in machine learning, life sciences, and industrial computing, discovering new sources of quantum advantage in practically relevant problems. He is an Honorary Fellow of the University of Melbourne.
