Biography

Marwan leads global markets forecasting at Ergo, a geopolitical risk and advisory firm, where he designs forecasts to advise hedge funds, private equity firms, and sovereign wealth funds on market entry, investment, and operational decisions. Previously, he was a senior global crisis analyst at the International Rescue Committee, working closely with CEO David Miliband and C-suite executives to provide macro-trends analysis guiding decision-making on threats to global aid staff and operations across 40+ countries. Marwan holds a BA in Political Science from Yale University and an MPhil in Politics (Comparative Government) from the University of Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar and a member of the T.E. Lawrence Programme for the study of conflict at All Souls College. His research employed mixed methods to measure the effects of election timing on the odds of conflict recurrence in post-conflict settings. He has partnered with organizations including the United Nations and Human Rights Watch, and his writing appears in the New York Times, the Atlantic Council, and the Oxford Middle East Review, among other outlets.
