Biography
Jun Gao did her undergraduate in Tsinghua University's Global Environment Program, ranking first in her class. She was selected as one of ten 2018 Yinghua Scholars to study at Oxford. Having grown up in Chongqing, China's "fog city," Jun is dedicated to pursuing a career as an environmental researcher and advocate in China. She has published on Chinese methane emission patterns and city-level greenhouse gas emissions datasets, and studied topics at the intersection of air quality and transportation as a visiting researcher at MIT China Future City Lab. Jun has presented at the UN COP24, cooperated with UNICEF-Vietnam to tackle SDGs, worked as an intern at the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China, built arsenic-reduction facilities for rural communities, and taught water purification strategies at local schools. She is also an accomplished gymnast, who served on the university rhythmic gymnastics team and the departmental aerobic gymnastics team. After finishing the MPhil in Economics at Oxford, she is going to read for PhD in Public Policy (economics track) at Harvard Kennedy School.
