Yan Chen is currently Research Associate at the Rhodes Trust. She has worked extensively in the creative industries as a writer, editor, theatrical advisor (dramaturg), researcher, translator, and journalist. She holds degrees in literature, theatre, and anthropology from Oxford, Harvard, and Nanjing Universities, where she researched cultural perspectives on loneliness, ageing, and disease. Her education and training in China, the US, the UK, Russia, and Poland has been supported by the Rhodes Scholarship, the Oxford-China-Schwarzman Graduate Scholarship, the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, the Xu Xin International Exchange Scholarship, the Frontline Fellowship, and the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center National Critics Institute Fellowship, among others.
