Biography
Willem is completing a MCom in economics at the University of Stellenbosch. For his Master's dissertation, he is estimating a structural model of the schooling decisions and labour market outcomes of South Africans. His research interests are in labour and development economics. Willem holds cum laude BSc and honours degrees in economics and mathematical statistics from Stellenbosch, where he was the top economics student throughout his studies. Willem is a Mandela Rhodes Scholar and Allan Gray Orbis Fellow. In 2016, he served as chairperson of Stellenbosch's debating society and he has coached debating to high schoolers for most of his university career.
