Biography
Siobhan is a neutron scattering instrument scientist at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation, a publicly funded research agency in Sydney. She completed a DPhil in Condensed Matter Physics at Oxford in 2024. Her academic background is in the physics of solid materials, in particular, their magnetic and electronic properties. This spans a range of applications from high-temperature alloys to quantum properties of materials at extremely low temperatures. Siobhan enjoys teaching people about science: she currently volunteers with Scientists in Schools and has previously taught with the Australian Science Olympiad program. This is part of her broader interest in education and accessibility. Hailing originally from Buninyong in Victoria, she is also a glider pilot.
