Biography

Mattea Mrkusic holds a BA (Honors) in Environmental Studies and Human Rights from Harvard University. While at Harvard, she wrote a thesis about climate change and migration in the Republic of Kiribati, which won Harvard's Thomas T. Hoopes Award. After graduating, she co-founded 'Collapse the Distance,' a storytelling project that aims to educate citizens of high carbon-emitting countries about climate impacts in the Pacific Region. Her previous experience includes Refugees International and United Nations Development Program, as well as grassroots organizing with Divest Harvard. As a documentary and radio producer, Mattea has covered America's criminal justice system and the climate crisis. At Oxford, she plans to pursue an MSc in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies and a Masters of Public Policy.
