Biography
Edil Ga'al graduated with high distinction from Victoria College, at the University of Toronto, where she double majored in African Studies and Political Science. Deeply concerned by inequities in the education system, Edil has advanced various inclusive education initiatives, both internationally and in Canada. As a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholar, Edil contributed educational programming to the House of Children School in Gisenyi, Rwanda. A recipient of the University of Toronto Excellence Award, she is a research assistant on the LGBTQ Families Speak Out Project, a multi-year study on the experiences of LGBTQ families in Ontario schools. She is an avid gardener and has contributed to both student and professional theatre projects. At Oxford, Edil hopes to pursue her interest in area studies and development.
