Biography
Anea B. Moore, Philadelphia, is a senior at the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Sociology and Urban-Studies. After both of her parents passed away in 2015, Anea became committed to improving the lives of low-income families before they experienced tragedy like her own family. A Truman Scholar, Anea holds a variety of important roles in Philadelphia public schools, for City Council members, and at her university. She helped to found her university's first-generation, low-income (FGLI) student program which provides resources to 1,000+ students. Anea also assists in providing music instruction and family engagement programming at a local school. Her two theses focus on the intersection of education and family policy, gentrification, race, and class. At Oxford, Anea intends to pursue a doctorate in Social Policy.
